Have a Cigar, Save a Homeless Pet

Have a Cigar, Save a Homeless Pet

Caldwell Cigar Company has just released a new line of smokes they’re calling “Lost & Found Give A F*CK.” It sounds aggressive but they’re not trying to scare away customers, they’re actually helping out homeless pet owners.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Project Unleashed, a Miami-based organization that provides healthcare to animals whose owners can’t afford the vet.

“Too many people put off getting help because they don’t want to leave their pets behind,” writes company co-founder and vice president Robert Caldwell, his thoughts appearing on the cigar pack’s wrapping. “Every pack of these cigars helps fund monthly, volunteer-led clinics, keeping more families —both two and four-legged — together when they need it most.”

Caldwell, which specializes in boutique cigars with rare blends, is combining Nicaraguan and Dominican filler in Give A F*CK, with the wrapper and binder from Havana and Sumatra, respectively. The company is protective of its brand, so is not disclosing the precise origins of the leaf; it won’t even disclose the location of the factory, according to Cigar Aficionado

“From the beginning, Caldwell has sought to do good through a variety of initiatives,” says the company website. Their “do things well, do good” ethic has included beach cleanups, homeless hunger outreach, and inner-city education. And now homeless pets.

Have a smoke here. The Lost & Found cigars, which sell for $12 a pop, will begin shipping from June 16. Or skip the stogie and just help out Project Unleashed directly.
